“Merry Christmas”

John 3:16 & Matthew 1:22-23

– Jennifer Grigsby, Minister to Kids

Merry Christmas! Tomorrow, there will be gifts to exchange, food to be enjoyed and people to laugh with, but before any of that, remember to sit at the feet of our Savior and worship.

Read John 3:16

How much did God love the world?

Think about the most expensive gift you have given someone. What about the gift God gave? Consider the love that motivated that gift. Reflect on the cost of that gift to God. His love for us is beyond our comprehension.

Do you remember how this Advent study began? It was in Genesis where we learned of God creating this beautiful world just for us. Everything God created was to share His love and provide a place where He could meet with His people. God had one rule: not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. By this directive, God was asking the question, “Do you trust me? Do you trust that I love you and have kept nothing good from you?”

Of course, we know Adam and Eve disobeyed that one rule. Satan slithered up in the form of a snake and made them question God’s love, causing them to eat from the one forbidden tree. This sin turned God’s perfect world upside down. Sin cut into their lives, and ours as well. Our sin separates us from our perfect God.

Thankfully, God had one more gift that was always planned:  Jesus, His only Son. The Father gave up the person He loves the most for us: Jesus, who was sent to take the punishment for our sins.

God gave up the person He loves the most! FOR US! Jesus was sent by His Father to be born, only to die, FOR US! His death bought our forgiveness and reconciled us to the Father. God loves you and wants a relationship with you. That relationship comes through faith in His son, Jesus. Have you asked for forgiveness of your sins? Have you accepted Immanuel, the perfect son of God, as your Savior? If not, do so today! It is the BEST GIFT you will ever receive!

If you made the decision to accept Jesus as your Savior today, please let someone on our staff know so we can help you take the next steps in your faith. If you already know our Savior, I hope you will spend time worshipping the King of kings and Lord of lords before you do anything else today.
