A Note from Michael Gossett
This week I had the distinct honor of being invited by our U.S. Congressman, Nathaniel Moran, to open a session of the U.S. House of Representatives with prayer on Thursday morning. The tradition of opening both houses of the U.S. Congress with prayer dates all the way back to the First Continental Congress in 1774.
Both the Senate and the House have full-time Chaplains who begin each session with an appeal to the Almighty God for direction and wisdom. I was invited to serve as Guest Chaplain to pray yesterday. This practice is another indication that we truly are “One Nation Under God.” I agree with President Ronald Regan who said, “If America ever forgets that we are one nation under God, we will be a nation gone under.”
It was an incredible honor to participate. Katie and I are so thankful to have been invited! Church family, I am so blessed to serve as your pastor. Thank you so much for praying for us as we travelled to our nation’s capital!
You can watch yesterday’s stream here and here.
A Prayer for today:
Heavenly Father,
I am so thankful for the power of salvation in your Son, Jesus. Thank you for opening my blind eyes to see the beauty of Christ and for adopting me as your child in your eternal family. Strengthen me today to love others well and let this be a marker of my life. Help me to lay down all of my preferences and priorities for the sake of your Kingdom and your mission. Help me to have a growing longing and desire for your Word, which is life-giving. Help me to walk in your victory that you have graciously provided and given to me. Protect me from spiritual apathy and conform me to be more like you today. Help these marks to be the marks of my life that confirms my salvation in you. Help me, Lord, to have the courage to get 3 people to come with me this Easter. Help me to see people who are desperate for you and who are lost right now without you. Pave the way for me to ask them today.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

KIDS’ PALM SUNDAY CELEBRATION is THIS Sunday, April 13. We will get to experience a reenactment of the Triumphal Entry which will include a live donkey and biblical cast during all three connect group hours. All kids, preschool-5th, will get to enjoy the parade with their class, wave palm branches, and learn about the significance of the Triumphal Entry. Invite your family to visit the Jerusalem Marketplace in the Atrium, where they can choose bread and fruit for snack and see a potter working in the potter’s shop. Parents, we would love for you to read Luke 19:28-40 and Matthew 21:1-11 with your kids in preparation.
EASTER INVITES! – This Sunday is the FINAL Sunday for picking up Easter door hangers, invites, and 3 Circles in the Worship Foyer! Please make plans to join us in inviting our community to worship with us this Easter by distributing door hangers in your neighborhood or at one of our mapped locations.
This is a wonderful opportunity for families and/or Connect Group members to serve together! Invites are also available to share with friends and coworkers. Thank you for helping us transform lives with the truth of Jesus this Easter!
HOLY WEEK DEVOTIONAL – Be sure to pick up your copy of the GABC Holy Week Devotional in the foyer this Sunday. It’s also available online HERE. This is a great way to prepare our hearts as we approach Good Friday and Easter Sunday!
Speaking of GOOD FRIDAY… I hope that you will join us on Friday, April 18, at 6PM as we worship together, participate in the Lord’s Supper, reflecting on the sacrifice that Jesus made, and anticipate the celebration of Easter.
On April 20, EASTER Sunday, Resurrection Sunday, we will have MANY opportunities to CELEBRATE together – starting with our annual Easter Sunrise Service at 7:00am at the Cathedral in the Pines Memorial Garden. For Easter Worship Services, we have 2 options at Tyler Campus: 9:30am and 11am. Flint Campus Worship Times: 8am, 9:30am, and 11am. Then, GABC Español will worship together at 11am. There will be NO Connect Groups at any of our campuses.
Remember to be praying about the 3 (or more!) people you will invite to join you for Easter services. The Lord may be prompting someone to attend church for the first time, or the first time in a long time, but they don’t have the courage to attend on their own. A simple invitation from YOU might be exactly what they need to help them take that first step!
THIS SUNDAY: “The Entry of Christ”
As we prepare our hearts for Holy Week, I want to personally invite you to gather with us this Sunday at Green Acres for a special Palm Sunday service. I’ll be preaching from Romans 3:21–26, a glorious passage that unveils the righteousness of God revealed in Christ.
While the crowds once welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem with palm branches, we now receive Him by faith as our atoning sacrifice and reigning King. This passage reveals the heart of the gospel—that God has made a way for sinners to be justified through the blood of Christ, by grace, through faith.
If you’ve been distant from the Lord or the church, this is the Sunday to come back. If you’ve been walking faithfully, this is the Sunday to rejoice. Come, bring a friend, and let us behold the wonder of our Savior together.
We hope to see you there, as we exalt the name of Jesus and proclaim the good news:
He has come, and He is mighty to save.
This Sunday at 9:30 am or 11:00 am at our Tyler Campus, Español Campus (Crosswalk of Tyler Campus at 11:00 am only) or Flint Campus.
You are loved and prayed for!
