Get Your Hopes Up for 2025!

Romans 15:13 says “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “don’t get your hopes up.” This is a popular saying to avoid disappointment. However, what if God is calling us toward the opposite? What if we are supposed to get our hopes up?

Hope is simply this: A confident expectation of God’s promises, based on trust in God’s faithfulness.

When I experience problems in life, I can get down on myself and down on those around me. Whenever I get down, I am literally, and figuratively, looking down. Then the Lord reminds me through the power of His Word and Holy Spirit that my hope is not found down here but from up above!

Psalm 121:1-2 says “I lift my eyes toward the mountains. Where will my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”

In 2025, no doubt there will be times when we are disappointed and feel deflated. However, in God’s grace, He gives us hope. Hope for the future. Hope in any circumstance. Hope in His presence, because He has the whole world in his hands.

Jesus says in John 16:33 that while we will have suffering, we can take courage, because He has conquered the world.

In those moments of hardship, remember that those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31).

God has designed His church to be hopeful. I want to challenge you to lean into your church community, serve the Kingdom, and ask God to give you the hope you need for each day.

Church, on January 8 at 6pm in the Worship Center, Pastor Michael will lead us in a time of prayer and worship as we kick off the new year. What better way to begin than in pray and worship together. I hope to see you there!

With the love of Jesus,
