Green Acres en Español
Five years ago, Pastor Michael and I sat down and dreamed about how we could better reach the Hispanic community in Tyler. His vision was for Green Acres to become a multiethnic and multigenerational church that reflects the surrounding community
Out of those conversations came the vision for Green Acres en Español. In September 2022, that vision became a reality when we launched our Hispanic campus.
From the very beginning, we saw God at work. People began attending, lives were being transformed, and families were growing in their faith. During our first year alone, we celebrated 59 baptisms as people publicly professed their faith in Jesus. It was a beautiful reminder of Christ's command to "go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19).
Our campus quickly became involved in serving the community through partnerships with organizations such as the St. Paul Food Pantry, Bethesda Clinic, the East Texas Food Bank, and our annual Back-to-School Fair. Whether through translation services, meeting physical needs, or simply building relationships, our goal has always been to demonstrate the love of Christ in practical ways.
Over the last three years, we have experienced growth both spiritually and numerically. Through the leadership and support of Pastor Michael and our Executive Staff, God has continued to bless and strengthen this ministry. As Paul reminds us, "I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth" (1 Corinthians 3:6). We have been faithful to the work, and God has done the rest.
Today, we have a strong team of committed leaders who are passionate about reaching people with the Gospel. Faithful men and women continue to teach God's Word, serve our congregation, and help lead our campus forward. While change happens, our mission remains the same: reaching the lost and serving our community. After all, Jesus said that He came "to seek and to save the lost" (Luke 19:10).
On August 1, we will once again host our annual Back-to-School Fair, where we will distribute more than 2,000 backpacks and connect families with valuable community resources.
This event provides a wonderful opportunity to show the love of Christ, introduce families to our church, and help meet both real and practical needs. We are grateful to partner with organizations such as Family Circle of Care, Bethesda Clinic, Texas Children's Health Plan, the Children's Defense Fund, Tyler ISD, and many others.
Families who attend will enjoy games, face painting, Zumba, giveaways, food trucks, and activities for children. Most importantly, they will hear the Gospel and experience the love of Jesus through the people serving them.
Last year's event welcomed more than 2,800 members of our community, and over 50 church volunteers helped make it possible. This year, our missions team, young adults, Kids ministry, and many others will be serving together. It is always encouraging to see the body of Christ working side by side to make a difference in our community.
I am incredibly grateful to be part of a church that cares deeply about reaching people and serving others in Christ's name. Thank you, Green Acres, for your support, prayers, and commitment to fulfilling God's mission in our city.
