Devotional

Lighting the lamp was just the beginning. After the woman in Luke 15 lights her lamp, she sweeps the house. She gets to work. She is not passive about finding what is lost. She is intentional, deliberate, and thorough.

Compassion is a beautiful thing. Meeting practical needs, showing up for people, and loving your neighbor in tangible ways all matter deeply. But compassion alone is not the full picture. People also need to hear the gospel. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Think about it this way: if someone you loved was in danger and you knew the way out, you would not just smile warmly and hope they figured it out. You would tell them. You would speak up because you care.

The same is true for the people around you who do not yet know Jesus. Acts of kindness open doors, but words carry the message through them. Both are needed. Neither replaces the other.

You do not need a theology degree or a perfect testimony to share your faith. You just need a willingness to open your mouth and tell someone what Jesus has done for you. That is enough. That is more than enough.

Bible Verse

"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'" - Romans 10:14-15

Reflection Question

When someone around you experiences God's grace or takes a step toward faith, what is your honest, gut-level reaction, and what does that reveal about how you see your own rescue?

Quote

Acts of mercy and compassion should run parallel with proclamation. They need to hear it. How will they know unless they hear?

Prayer

God, give me the courage to let my compassion lead to conversation. Help me to speak Your truth with love and confidence. Amen.
