Fix Your Eyes, Change Your Direction | Tuesday

There is a principle that drivers learn early: do not stare at what you want to avoid. If you fixate on the obstacle, you will drift straight toward it. Instead, look at the open road ahead. Your hands follow your eyes almost automatically.

The same is true in the life of faith. Hebrews 12 calls us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Not on our failures. Not on the obstacles around us. Not on the excuses that feel so reasonable in the moment. On Jesus.

This is both a warning and an invitation. The warning is that a life spent staring at problems, fears, and limitations will slowly become shaped by them. The invitation is that a life with eyes fixed on Christ will be drawn forward by Him, even through difficulty.

You may be surrounded by real obstacles right now. The circumstances may be genuinely hard. But the call today is not to pretend those things do not exist. It is to refuse to let them become the center of your vision. Look at Christ. Let Him set the direction.

What obstacle or excuse has been taking up the most space in your vision lately, and what would it look like to shift your focus from that to Christ?

Prayer

Jesus, I confess that I have been staring at the wrong things. Help me to lift my eyes and fix them on You, trusting that You will lead me where I need to go. Amen.
