Devotional

One of the most remarkable things about the shepherd in this parable is that he doesn't wait. The sheep didn't find its way home. The shepherd went out and found the sheep.

That's the pattern of God's grace throughout all of Scripture. He doesn't sit back and wait for people to clean themselves up before He moves toward them. He goes. He pursues. He transforms.

Think about Saul of Tarsus. He wasn't searching for God. He was actively working against everything God was doing. And yet, on a road to Damascus, grace showed up anyway and changed everything.

Romans 10:9-10 reminds us of the simplicity of that grace: "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." - Romans 10:9-10

God's grace doesn't require you to have it figured out first. It meets you right where you are. Whatever road you're on today, whatever you've done or left undone, grace is already moving in your direction.

You don't have to earn your way back. You just have to receive what He's already offering.

Is there an area of your life where you've been waiting to "get it together" before fully surrendering to God? What would it look like to let His grace meet you right where you are?

Prayer

Lord, thank You that Your grace doesn't wait for me to be perfect. Help me to stop striving and simply receive what You've already made available to me through Jesus.
