Holiness Over Happiness | Wednesday

If someone asked you what God wants for your life, what would you say? For many people, the honest answer would be something like happiness, health, or success. And while God does care about our wellbeing, His primary goal for us is something deeper.

God's plan for His children is not our happiness. It is our holiness. Not our physical condition, but our spiritual condition. Not abundant finances, but abundant faith. Not earthly success, but eternal salvation.

This is a significant shift. Happiness is about how we feel. Holiness is about who we are becoming. And God is far more interested in who you are becoming than in how comfortable you feel right now.

This does not mean God is cold or indifferent to your pain. It means He loves you too much to leave you as you are. A good parent does not give their child everything they want. They give them what they need to grow into a healthy, mature person. God does the same.

The goal of your faith is not personal satisfaction. It is being personally satisfied in Him. That kind of satisfaction runs deeper than circumstances. It holds steady when life gets hard. It does not depend on things going your way.

You are being shaped into something beautiful. Trust the process, even when it is uncomfortable.

Bible Verse

'In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.' - 1 Peter 1:6-7

If God's primary goal for you is holiness rather than happiness, how does that change the way you interpret the difficult seasons of your life?

Prayer

God, help me to want what You want for me, even when it is hard. Shape me into the person You created me to be, and let my greatest satisfaction be found in You alone. Amen.
