Less of Me, More of Him | Tuesday

There is a quiet danger that can creep into the life of a devoted believer. It does not look like rebellion. It looks like busyness, ministry, and passion. But somewhere along the way, the spotlight shifts. What started as serving Jesus slowly becomes building a name, protecting a reputation, or measuring worth by how many people are watching.

John the Baptist never fell into that trap. When his own disciples came to him concerned that Jesus was gaining more followers, John did not panic. He celebrated. His response was simple and stunning: Jesus must increase, and I must decrease.

That posture is the heartbeat of genuine discipleship. Him growing larger in our lives. Us growing smaller. Not because we do not matter, but because the point was never us to begin with.

It is worth asking honestly: are we in love with Jesus, or are we in love with being close to the things of Jesus? Ministry can become its own kind of idol. Worship can become a performance. Devotion can become a routine. The difference between loving Jesus and loving the idea of Jesus is felt most clearly in the quiet moments when no one is watching.

The good news is that a smaller version of you leaves more room for a bigger vision of Him. And that is where real joy lives.

Jesus, forgive me for the moments I have made faith about me. Increase in every corner of my life, and help me joyfully decrease so that You are impossible to miss. Amen.
