Devotional

It is easy to get caught up in the immediate. The bills, the goals, the next vacation, the next purchase. None of those things are wrong on their own. But when the temporary becomes the total focus of your life, something important gets lost.

Jesus warned about this kind of living. In Luke 16, the shrewd manager was clever, but his cleverness only reached as far as next week. He had no vision for eternity. And Jesus essentially said to His followers: you should be even more strategic than that, but with an eternal perspective.

You have been given a life that can echo beyond the grave. The relationships you invest in, the generosity you practice, the gospel you share, these things have the potential to outlast you by generations. That is not an exaggeration. That is the promise of a kingdom mindset.

This does not mean you have to do something dramatic. It means waking up each day and asking a simple question: what can I do today that will matter forever? It might be an encouraging word to someone who is struggling. It might be a financial gift that funds the gospel somewhere in the world. It might be showing up faithfully in your local church.

Do not let the urgent crowd out the eternal. You have been given today as an opportunity. Use it with intention.

Bible Verse

"As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." - Joshua 24:15

Reflection Question

What is one area of your daily life where you have been focused on the temporary, and how might shifting to an eternal perspective change the way you approach it?

Quote

If you have a kingdom mindset, the day that your life ends on this side of eternity could have a lasting impact for all eternity.

Prayer

Jesus, help me to lift my eyes above the immediate and see my life through the lens of eternity. Give me the wisdom to invest my time and resources in things that will last. Amen.
