Stop Performing, Start Treasuring | Wednesday

There is a difference between loving someone and treasuring them. You can love a person and still take them for granted. You can go through all the motions of a relationship while quietly losing the wonder that once made it feel alive.

Paul described his relationship with Jesus in deeply personal terms. Not as a duty. Not as a role. But as a life completely overtaken by someone who loved him and gave Himself up for him. That kind of love does not produce performance. It produces transformation.

Somewhere between Sunday mornings and daily routines, it is easy to drift from treasuring Jesus to simply being around the things of Jesus. We can sing about Him without being moved by Him. We can serve in His name without actually spending time with Him. We can be devoted to devotionals without being devoted to the One the devotionals point to.

But here is the encouragement: the drift is not permanent. Treasure can be rediscovered. Wonder can return. The same Jesus who captured your heart the first time is still fully present and fully worth your attention today.

Being devoted must outshine devotionals. The practices of faith are meant to lead you back to the Person of faith. Let them do that today. Open your hands, quiet the noise, and let yourself be reminded of just how good He actually is.

When did you last feel genuine wonder and gratitude toward Jesus, not for what He provides, but simply for who He is?

Prayer

Father, reignite in me a deep and genuine love for Jesus, not just for what He does, but for who He is. Help me treasure Him above everything else. Amen.
