Devotional

Imagine spending all weekend cleaning your house until it sparkles, only to leave it completely empty. That's exactly what Jesus warns against in our spiritual lives. Many people work hard to clean up their behavior - they stop bad habits, start attending church, and follow moral guidelines. From the outside, everything looks great. But if Christ never truly becomes Lord of their heart, that cleaned house remains dangerously empty. The problem isn't the cleaning - it's what fills the space afterward. When we focus only on behavior modification without heart transformation, we leave ourselves vulnerable to spiritual emptiness. That void will be filled with something - whether it's legalism, pride in our good works, or performance-based Christianity. True spiritual health isn't just about removing the bad; it's about inviting Jesus to fill every room of our hearts. He doesn't just want to visit occasionally - He wants to move in permanently and transform us from the inside out.

Bible Verse

"When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.'" - Luke 11:24

Reflection Question

Are there areas of your life that you've 'cleaned up' but haven't truly surrendered to Christ's lordship?

Quote

Cleaning a house is not the same as filling the house.

Prayer

Lord, I don't want just a clean house - I want You to fill every room of my heart. Come and make Your home in me completely.
