Devotional

It is easy to read the Parable of the Prodigal Son and focus on the younger son's bad decisions or the older son's bitterness. But if you look closely, the real hero of the story is the Father. He is the one who runs. He is the one who covers shame. He is the one who throws the party.

Jesus did not tell this parable to give us a moral lesson about making better choices. He told it so we could see the heart of God up close. And what we see is breathtaking. A Father who is not waiting with crossed arms and a lecture, but one who is scanning the horizon, hoping to catch a glimpse of His child coming home.

That is the God we serve. Not a distant, disappointed judge, but a Father filled with compassion who moves toward us before we even have our apology rehearsed.

If you have ever felt like you have gone too far, done too much, or waited too long, this story is for you. The Father's love is not something you earn. It is something He lavishes. And it is all centered on Christ, who made that kind of love possible for every one of us.

You are not too far gone. You never were.

Bible Verse

"But while the son was still a long way off, his Father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; He ran to his son, threw His arms around him and kissed Him." - Luke 15:20

Reflection Question

When you picture God waiting for you, do you imagine Him with open arms or crossed arms, and what has shaped that image in your heart?

Quote

It is all centered on Christ.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being a God who runs toward us rather than away from us. Help us to see Your heart clearly and to trust that Your love is greater than our failures. Amen.
