Devotional

We spend a lot of energy managing how we appear to others. We curate, we perform, we present the best version of ourselves. And sometimes, we even do it in church.

The Pharisees were experts at this. They had built an entire system of religious behavior designed to earn admiration. And it worked, at least with people. But Jesus saw right through it. He reminded them that what is highly admired by people can be revolting in God's sight.

That is a sobering thought. But it is also a freeing one.

You do not have to perform for God. He already sees everything, and He still loves you. He is not looking for the polished version of you. He is looking for the honest one. The one who comes to Him as you actually are, not as you wish you were.

God is not impressed by appearances. He is moved by a heart that is genuinely turned toward Him. That means your quiet, unseen moments of faithfulness matter more than any public display of religion.

Stop trying to manage your image before God. He already knows you fully, and He is still for you. That is the kind of grace worth building your life on.

Bible Verse

"For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God's sight." - Luke 16:15

Reflection Question

Is there an area of your spiritual life where you are performing for others rather than genuinely pursuing God?

Quote

For what is highly admired by people is revolting in God's sight.

Prayer

God, search my heart and show me where I am living for the approval of people instead of Yours. Help me to be honest before You and to trust that Your love does not depend on my performance. Amen.
