When Drift Goes Unnoticed | Monday

Devotional
Most of us do not wake up one day and decide to wander. Drift is quieter than that. It sneaks in through small compromises, subtle distractions, and gradual shifts in what we give our attention to. Before long, we look up and realize we are far from where we intended to be.
This is why the apostle Paul urges us in Colossians 3 to set our minds on things above. It is not a one-time decision. It is a daily, intentional choice about where we direct our focus. The mind follows what the heart treasures, and the life follows where the mind goes.
Here is the encouraging truth: if drift is gradual, so is the return. You do not have to fix everything today. You simply have to look up. Reorient your gaze toward Christ, and take one step in His direction. He is not standing at a distance, arms crossed, waiting for you to get it together. He is near, and He is patient.
Today is a good day to ask yourself where your focus has been lately. Not to condemn yourself, but to honestly assess the direction you are heading. Small corrections made early make all the difference.
Bible Verse
"Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things." - Colossians 3:1-2
Reflection Question
If the direction of your life follows the focus of your attention, what does your daily routine reveal about where your eyes are truly fixed?
Quote
Drift rarely announces itself. That's the danger of drift, is that it's usually subtle, and it's usually underneath the surface where you can't really see it, and you don't see the effects until you're too far down the road.
Prayer
Lord, open my eyes to the subtle ways I have drifted from You. Redirect my heart and my focus back to You today, one step at a time. Amen.
