When Sheep Wander | Monday

Sheep don't usually run away. They drift. One small step leads to another, and before long, they're far from where they started. If we're honest, that's often how it goes for us too.

It rarely starts with a dramatic decision to walk away from God. It starts with a small compromise. A quiet neglect. A little give here, a little give there. And slowly, almost without noticing, we find ourselves somewhere we never intended to be.

Isaiah 53:6 puts it plainly: "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." - Isaiah 53:6

That verse is both a warning and a comfort. Yes, we wander. But God doesn't leave us there.

The good news is that awareness is the first step back. Recognizing the drift, naming the small compromises, and turning back toward the Shepherd is exactly what He's waiting for. You don't have to have it all together before you come back. You just have to come.

If you feel like you've drifted lately, even just a little, today is a good day to pause and reorient. The Shepherd hasn't moved. He's still right there.

Prayer

Lord, help me to see the small drifts in my life before they become great distances. Thank You that You never stop pursuing me, even when I wander. Draw me back to You today.
