From Coping to Hoping | Monday

Devotional

There are seasons when a problem feels so permanent that hoping for change starts to feel naive. You stop praying with urgency and start managing the pain instead. Maybe you have been there. Maybe you are there right now. Proverbs 13:12 puts words to what that feels like: hope deferred makes the heart sick. When hope keeps getting pushed further away, something quietly shifts inside us. We go from believing God can move to simply surviving the situation. But here is the good news. God is not okay with you just surviving. He wants more for you than coping. He wants you to return to genuine, expectant hope, not wishful thinking, but the confident belief that He is actively at work in your situation. The Father in Matthew 17 had watched His son suffer for years. He had tried everything. And yet he still came to Jesus. That decision, to bring his pain back to God instead of just managing it, changed everything. You do not have to have it all together to come to God. You just have to come. Whatever mountain has quietly become something you have accepted as permanent, bring it back to Him today. He has not forgotten you, and He has not run out of power.

Bible Verse

"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life." - Proverbs 13:12

Reflection Question

What situation in your life have you quietly stopped believing God can change, and what would it look like to bring it back to Him with fresh hope today?

Quote

"Proverbs says hope deferred makes the heart sick. What I'm praying and what I prayed this week for you and for me, that we would go from coping back to hoping. God wants you to go back to hoping today."

Prayer

Lord, I confess that I have been coping more than hoping. Reignite a confident expectation in my heart that You are still at work. Bring me back to hoping again.
