Grace First, Then Obedience | Wednesday

One of the most important truths we can grasp is the proper order of grace and obedience. Many people believe they must clean up their act before coming to God, or that their good behavior earns His favor. This backwards thinking leads to frustration and spiritual exhaustion. The truth is revolutionary: grace produces obedience, not the other way around. When Jonah received God's word the second time, he obeyed—not because he had to earn God's love, but because he had already experienced it. Grace transforms our hearts, making us want to follow God rather than forcing us to comply. This means you don't have to get your life together before approaching God. You don't have to prove your worthiness or demonstrate your commitment. All you bring to the table is your need for grace. Your sinfulness isn't a barrier to God's love—it's the very reason He extends it. When you truly understand that God's love for you is unconditional and unearned, it creates a grateful heart that naturally wants to honor Him through obedience.
