Devotional

In Jesus' parable, faithful servants not only have their sleeves rolled up but also keep their lamps burning. These lamps represent the light of God's Word illuminating our path and the knowledge of Christ that guides our decisions.

Keeping your lamp burning requires daily attention. Oil runs out. Wicks need trimming. Light doesn't maintain itself - it requires consistent care and feeding. This is why daily time in God's Word and prayer isn't optional for the believer waiting for Christ's return. It's essential maintenance for spiritual readiness.

When our spiritual lamps burn bright, we see clearly in a dark world. We make decisions based on God's truth rather than cultural trends. We respond to challenges with faith rather than fear. We treat people with love rather than judgment. The light of Christ in us becomes a beacon for others who are stumbling in darkness.

This daily discipline of keeping our lamps burning is what separates thriving Christians from surviving ones. It's the difference between being spiritually prepared and spiritually presumptuous. When Jesus returns, He's looking for servants whose lamps are still burning brightly, ready to welcome Him home.

Bible Verse

'Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.' - Psalm 119:105

Reflection Question

What daily practices help keep your spiritual 'lamp' burning bright, and which ones need more attention?

Quote

This is a daily thing that you and I must fight for. Like, we must fight constantly for an eternal perspective in our hearts and in our minds.

Prayer

Lord, help me maintain daily connection with You through Your Word and prayer. Keep my spiritual lamp burning bright so I'm ready for Your return.
